The Indonesian tourism event industry makes a significant economic contribution. Economic circulation from tourism events in Indonesia reached more than IDR 11 trillion from only eight events in 2024. As of 1 July 2025, the economic circulation generated by tourism events had reached IDR 352.97 billion.
The Assistant Deputy (Asdep) for Event Strategy, Deputy for the Development of Event Organizers, Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar), responded to this potential through collaboration with DESMA Center in the preparation of Roadmap and Action Plan for Development of the Indonesian Tourism Event Industry.
This document is prepared to provide comprehensive strategic direction and to serve as a foundation for evidence-based policy development to strengthen the tourism event industry as a driver of national tourism sector development toward a sustainable tourism ecosystem.
The preparation of this roadmap and action plan document was carried out through a series of literature studies, a series of limited consultation meetings with 22 representatives of tourism event industry associations, and the implementation of three Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) to gather input and recommendations, map challenges and opportunities, and validate the drafted document.
The document presents the roadmap and action plan through the formulation of strategies and development stages for the 2025–2029 period, aligned with national policies and industry needs.
The Roadmap and Action Plan for the Development of the Indonesian Tourism Event Industry serves as a guideline for stakeholders in the Indonesian tourism event industry to realize Indonesia as a high-quality, competitive, and sustainable global tourism event destination.
