Cluster Group Discussion (DKT) Profiling the Recreation Park Industry in Indonesia

The recreational park industry is one of the artificial tourist attractions which is experiencing a significantly increasing level of tourist visits. The global theme parks market in 2022 was USD 56.32 billion and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.2 percent in 2023-2030.

 

The Directorate of Industrial Management, Deputy for Industry and Investment, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) held a Cluster Group Discussion (DKT) Profiling the Recreation Park Industry in Indonesia. This activity will take place on August 29 2024 in Jakarta. This DKT aims to identify challenges and opportunities to strengthen the recreation park industry ecosystem in Indonesia.

 

 

The DKT was carried out as part of the preparation of a study document on Strengthening the Recreational Park Industrial Ecosystem in Indonesia. This document focuses on the governance of the recreation park industry, by profiling the recreation park industry; application of sustainability principles, as well as providing strategic recommendations for the development of recreational parks in Indonesia.

 

Representing the Deputy for Industry and Investment, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the activity was opened by Mr. Fadjar Utomo, Expert Staff for Crisis Management at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. The DKT began with an incendiary session with resource persons Mr. Taufik A. Wuwu, General Chair of the Indonesian Family Recreation Association (ARKI); and Mr. Alexander Zulkarnain, Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Recreational Park Business Association (PUTRI). 

 

The study presentation session was conducted by the DESMA Center team, Mrs. Wiwik Mahdayani. Also present were relevant ministries/institutions, local governments, associations, the private sector and recreational park industry players from all over Indonesia online and offline. A focused group discussion session on strengthening the recreation park industrial ecosystem was then guided by the DESMA Center team Dicky Mardyan and Ari Zulkarnaen. The discussion was divided into two groups to discuss strategic issues, challenges and opportunities for developing the recreational park industry as well as suggestions and input from various stakeholders, especially recreational park industry players.

 

 

 

The results of the discussion, in the form of suggestions and input from participants who attended online and offline, will be elaborated in documents to produce more effective policies for strengthening the governance of the recreational park industry in Indonesia.

DESMA Center as implementing partner in preparing the study document for Strengthening the Recreational Park Industrial Ecosystem in Indonesia by profiling the recreational park industry; industrial governance and implementation of sustainability principles. The results of this profiling are mapping and policy analysis for the development of the recreation park industry in Indonesia.

The aim of preparing this study is to provide policy direction, strategies and recommendations for developing the recreation park industry with sustainability principles in Indonesia; in order to strengthen Indonesia as a quality and competitive tourism destination in ASEAN and globally.
