Preparing Tourism Vocational School Teachers for Learning in the Era of Society 5.

One of the schools assisted by the DESMA Center, SMKS Pancasila Tambolaka in Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, held a workshop with the theme Future Vocational School Teachers: Ready for Learning in the Era of Society 5.0 on November 21 2024. This was attended by four teachers majoring in hospitality and tourism service businesses (ULP). 

This workshop aims to deepen teachers' understanding of the concept of Society 5.0, which integrates technology into the humanist values ​​of the learning process and creates innovative learning models.

 

 

Mr Boyke Hutapea, Program Manager Field Office Sumba DESMA Center explained the implementation of continuous learning (continuous learning) in the context of learning society 5.0. Participants learn how to use hotel management applications or cloud platforms, to improve the quality of learning and prepare students to face the industrial world that has implemented digital systems.

Through this workshop, Tourism Vocational School teachers gain practical skills that can be applied in teaching, so it is hoped that teachers can apply the Society 5.0 concept in learning materials and use technology to support more interactive and relevant learning.

 

 

This workshop is part of Program TVET for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba which is implemented by the DESMA Center.Workshop ini merupakan bagian dari Program TVET for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba yang diimplementasi oleh DESMA Center.

The TVET for Sustainable Tourism Development in Sumba program is supported by MISEREOR/KZE; implemented by DESMA Center. Strengthening the Capacity of Tourism Human Resources aims to realize "a tourism vocational school education program in Sumba to meet the needs and requirements of the tourism industry, thereby offering better job opportunities for young people and supporting sustainable tourism in Sumba."

This program includes strengthening (1) The management capacity of tourism vocational schools in line with the independent curriculum and the concept of sustainable tourism; (2) Teacher capacity in pedagogical knowledge, about teaching and sustainable tourism (3) Tourism Vocational School-Tourism Industry Partnership; and (4) Students' entrepreneurial capacity in creating a sustainable tourism business.

The direct beneficiaries of this program are (1) Pancasila Vocational School – Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba; (2) SMK Negeri 2 Tambolaka City, Southwest Sumba; (3) Bakti Luhur Vocational School – Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba; (4) Efata Vocational School - Omba Rade, Southwest Sumba; and (5) Waikabubak State Vocational School 1, West Sumba. The direct partners of this program are (1) East Nusa Tenggara Province Education & Culture Office; (2) Southwest Sumba Regency Government; (3) West Sumba Regency Government; (4) Southwest Sumba Regency Tourism Office; and (5) West Sumba Regency Tourism Office.
