DESMA Center Conducted Audience Meeting with the Acting Regent of Langkat, North Sumatera

The Acting Regent of Langkat H Syah Afandin SH received a direct audience and gathering of the DESMA Center team in the VIP Room of the Langkat Regent's Office on March 29 2022. Also attending the meeting was the Head of the Langkat Bappeda Rina Wahyuni Marpaung, S.STP,. M.AP and its ranks; Regional Secretary dr. H. Indra Salahudin, M.Kes, MM; The Department of Tourism and Culture of Langkat Regency, represented by the Head of Tourism, Sabarita S.Sos; and Deputy Director of the Medan Tourism Polytechnic Dr. Femmy Indriani Dalimunthe, M.Si, CHE, CEE and their staff.

 

During the hearing and gathering, DESMA Center delivered a work program related to sustainable tourism development in Langkat Regency, which was delivered by the Founder and Director of DESMA Center, Wiwik Mahdayani. DESMA Center hopes to synergize with stakeholders in Langkat Regency in developing more sustainable tourism.

 

One of the work programs presented was the development project of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, in collaboration with the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity (ACB), which was co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW. Ecotourism Digitization Program and Capacity Building for Ecotourism Actors in Gunung Leuser National Park, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, implemented by DESMA Center. This research was conducted in Gunung Leuser National Park in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra.

        

 

 

Acting Regent of Langkat H Syah Afandin SH in his direction welcomed and supported the implementation of the program. Head of Langkat Bappeda Rina Wahyuni Marpaung, S.STP,. M.AP in his direction conveyed the work program of the Langkat Regency government related to tourism and cooperation with various parties in supporting tourism development in the region.

 

During the meeting, DESMA Center also requested that one of the places assisted by DESMA Center, namely the Batu Frog Ecotourism Area in Batu Jongjong Village, Bahorok District, Langkat Regency, receive a Tourism Village Decree from the Regency Government.

 

Previously, the Langkat Regency Government encouraged the development of 7 (seven) tourist villages by issuing a Tourism Village Decree to support tourism development in Bukit Lawang and Tangkahan, Langkat Regency. Three villages, namely Sei Musam Village, Sei Serdang Village and Namo Sialang Village, Batang Serangan District are planned to support the Tangkahan tourist area. Meanwhile, 4 (four) other villages namely Timbang Jaya Village, Sampe Raya Village, Timbang Lawan Village and Bukitlawang Plantation Village, Bahorok District are planned to support the Bukit Lawang tourist area.

 

This application is based on the fact that the Batu Frog Ecotourism Area, Batu Jongjong Village is on the Travel Pattern route in the same sub-district, namely Bahorok District, which can be connected to other tourist destinations not only in Bahorok District, but also other sub-districts in Langkat Regency; so that it is not only a strategy for diversifying tourism products, but also provides an opportunity to extend the length of stay of tourists in the area.

 

The Langkat Regency Government welcomed the request by following up on the issuance of the Tourism Village Decree as a form of support for the multi-stakeholder synergy between the government and various institutions in the development and development of tourism in Langkat Regency.
