Workshop on Building Relationships and Partnerships between SMK Tourism and the Business World & Industrial World (DUDI)
The Workshop on Building Relationships and Partnerships between SMK Tourism and the Business &Industrial World (DUDI) took place from July 7 to July 8, 2022 in Tambolaka, Southwest Sumba. Attended by Korwas SMA / SMK / PLB Sumba Barat Daya - Representatives of the Education and Culture Office of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Principals and teachers from 2 SMKs assisted by DESMA Center (SMKN 2 Tambolaka City & SMK Pancasila Tambolaka), 5 non-assisted vocational schools (SMK Bakti Luhur Tambolaka, SMK Kasimo Tambolaka, SMK Efata Ombarade, SMKN 1 Waikabubak and SMKN 2 Lamboya) and representatives of WLF (William & Lily Foundation).
The workshop was opened by the Head of Secondary Education Division of the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Education and Culture Office from online zoom. From his speech, the Head of Secondary Education Division appreciates DESMA who has helped facilitate SMK Tourism in Southwest Sumba and West Sumba for human resources capacity building programs and hopes that DESMA Center will continue mentoring because it is not enough 2 years to obtain the expected results.
The trainer in this activity is the Training Manager of Bali Dynasty Resort. The method used is brainstorming through Group Discussions and Presentations as well as responses from participants. On the first day, participants practiced how to negotiate with DUDI for cooperation in various programs, one of which was the Teacher Internship program, Guest Teacher, Student Prekerin to the Cooperation agreement.
On the second day, the topic material was Interview Skills and Action Plan. Trainers provide material on Interview Techniques and continue with group discussions and then the workshop participants present the results of the discussion then participants are given the opportunity to respond and provide input.
The Workshop on Building Relationships and Partnerships between SMK Tourism and the Business &Industrial World (DUDI) is part of strengthening the capacity of assisted tourism vocational schools as preparations towards LSP P1, in the Project of Strengthening the TVET Tourism Ecosystem in Southwest Sumba implemented by DESMA Center.

The "DESMA Pandai - Strengthening the Tourism TVET Ecosystem in Southwest Sumba" program implemented by DESMA Center, is a collaborative project funded by the William & Lily Foundation with the Adaro Foundation. The program lasts for 2 (two) years from August 1, 2020 to July 30, 2022. The direct beneficiary beneficiary is SMKS Pancasila Tambolaka and SMKN 2 Tambolaka City, Southwest Sumba Regency. Project activities include:
(1) Strengthening advocacy to provincial and district governments; (2) Increasing the capacity of tourism vocational schools to prepare to meet the requirements towards LSP P1; and (3) Strengthening the linkage and network of tourism vocational schools with related tourism industries.
This project is in partnership with the Education and Culture Office of East Nusa Tenggara Province, Korwas SMA / SMK / PLB of Southwest Sumba Regency, Government of Southwest Sumba Regency, Tourism Office of Southwest Sumba Regency, and 2 (two) model vocational schools, namely SMKN 1 Kupang and SMKN 3 Denpasar which are involved in sister school programs with SMKS Pancasila and SMKN 2 Tambolaka. The project also has the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy.
